As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Autonomy of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Regional Government authorized, through Resolution no. 462/2026, the signing of a program contract with the Madeira Football Association. The financial support, which will not exceed 90,000.00 euros, is intended for the realization of the 2026 Autonomy Tournament, scheduled to take place between July 31 and August 2, 2026.
The event, of an inter-regional and international nature, will feature the participation of renowned clubs, namely Clube Desportivo Nacional and Club Sport Marítimo (Madeira), Clube Desportivo Santa Clara (Azores), and Unión Deportiva Las Palmas (Canary Islands). The funding aims to cover logistics, transport, accommodation, security, and refereeing expenses, reinforcing the promotion of sport and regional identity.
The Regional Government of Madeira has approved cooperation protocols with five local entities, representing a total investment of 28,000 euros.
